Fold3′s Black History Collection – Free Thru February

Fold3.com announced their Black History collection can be accessed for free during the month of February. This collection covers the following periods:

  • Civil War
  • Reconstruction & Jim Crow Laws
  • World Wars
  • Civil Rights Movement

The section on U.S. Colored Troops is 100% indexed and is described as:

A compiled military service record consists of card abstracts of a soldier’s service with information collected from original muster rolls, returns, rosters, payrolls, appointment books, hospital registers, prison registers and rolls, parole rolls, and inspection reports. Unique to the records of the USCT are deeds of manumission, oaths of allegiance, proof of ownership, certificates of monetary award, and bills of sale.
