Georgia Genealogical Society

The Georgia Genealogical Society, a nonprofit volunteer organization, was founded as a friend of the Georgia Department of Archives and History in 1964. We invite you to join us.

Purposes

  • To raise the standards of genealogical research over the state through education programs, workshops, and the publication of genealogical data, and
  • To constitute a “Friends of Archives” group for the Georgia Department of Archives and History, to assist said department in building up its genealgoical collection, and
  • To promote the collection and preservation of the early records of the Colony and the state of Georgia.

Currently I'm researching my Barrett and Barker families in Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi and Florida. Other surnames in my family tree include Link, Gervais, Blake, Henry, Levy and Turnbull (yes, that Turnbull).
